The oyster-bamboo exchange with the Starn Studio at the Metropolitan Museum of Art:

Walrus and Carpenter recently made an exchange with Mike and Doug Starn.  Having just finished an installation on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Starn Brothers agreed  to let Walrus and Carpenter recycle the bamboo from the exhibit to the farm.  Their exhibit, Big Bambú, was a massive bamboo structure that covered over 5,000 square feet and rose 5o feet above the roof of the Met.  We were able to drive our trucks, trailers and boat into Manhattan and load up with 10 cords of bamboo.   We will be using the bamboo to construct underwater racks for growing oysters.  This salvaged natural material will allow us to move away from using fossil fuel based products like PVC and plastic coated wire.
