Location: Must have reliable transportation to all our sites, including our facility in Galilee, Pt. Judith Farm in Narragansett, and Dutch Farm in Jamestown.

Job Type/Dates: Full time (40 hrs/week) from June 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024

Job Opening: Walrus and Carpenter Oysters (WCO) is a vertically integrated ocean farm and distribution company. WCO is looking to hire hardworking, reliable, team oriented individuals to assist with the daily operations of our oyster farms in Pt. Judith Pond, Narragansett, RI and Dutch Harbor, Jamestown, RI.

Opportunity for promotion to a managerial role and full time year round employment.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to :

(1) Cleaning and grading seed oysters at our upweller

(2) Drying of culture gear on our leases

(3) Processing oysters for market on our work boats and in our shipping facility in the port of Galilee. In addition, there will be opportunities to assist and learn about the distribution side of the company.

Requirements:

• Personal transportation and valid drivers license required

• Previous aquaculture, agriculture or boating/working on the water experience is preferred but not required

• Must be able to lift 50lb

• Passion for aquaculture and local food production

• Able to work in adverse weather conditions and maintain a positive attitude

• Able to work independently and as a part of a team

• Flexible and able to adapt to circumstances at hand

• Pleasant and upbeat personality

• A positive representative of Walrus and Carpenter Oysters

Compensation: Compensation starting at $19/hour, commensurate with experience.
